Landon Zwerk has always wanted to take over his family farm in Vassar one day. However, he and his father knew that running a business comes with a unique set of challenges. To help achieve his goal of becoming the fourth generation in his family to manage the company, he decided to earn a bachelor's degree in business management at SVSU. After graduating in May 2016, Zwerk was more than equipped to one day manage the inner-workings of his family's establishment.
Leaders in business must have broad knowledge of all aspects of operations, from finance to marketing to operations management. Management majors achieve this with a business core of 50 credits, and then focus on topics of human resource management and organizational behavior. The program develops the students' ability to bring solutions to issues in human resource management, an understanding of current laws and policies, and use of analytical techniques to increase operational effectiveness.
