Problem Solving is used in situations where there is a "correct" answer and the people involved want to reach a consensus about what the "correct" answer might be.

The first step in Problem Solving is recognizing that a problem exists, which is problem finding (see the Creative Thinking Section of this web site). Once it is recognized that a problem does, in fact exist, the following process can be used to find a solution to that problem:

1. Representing the problem.

2. Devising or selecting a plan to solve the problem.

3. Executing and monitoring the solution plan.

4. Evaluating the results.
