Each class has a specific site in VSpace, but there are common features that will benefit all of my students. These features include a course-specific page of links to worksheets that provide Evaluation Criteria, Peer Evaluation Sheets, an explanation of "How To Use Quotes," and directions on concise writing, "Trimming the Fat." Students will also find more general, supplemental help through links on grammar basics, reference materials, and research databases on this page.

Please visit theWriting Center for extra help with your papers. The link above provides basic information about the role of the Writing Center and its hours of operation.

Each class can access daily reading and writing assignments, paper topics, and group projects on the class-specific pages. Whether you are in one of my writing or literature classes, please feel free to stop in on any of the pages. At the following pages, you can find guides that are common to most of my classes. They will give you the evaluation symbols that I use when I comment on your papers and the general evaluation criteria that I expect all papers to meet. Also, you can gauge your own papers by sharing them with a friend. Ask him or her to use the Peer Evaluation Worksheet. You also can rate your own paper by using the general rubric. There is a special rubric for research papers too.

Note to students: You will find model papers on reserve in Zahnow Library under my name. These papers are from former students who excelled in their work. You may borrow them for reading or copying by asking the librarian at the desk for the folder, entitled "Model Papers," under my name.
