Since the Fall semester of 2016, SCWC tutors facilitated ten-week workshops for the Level One inmates at the Saginaw Correctional Facility each fall and winter semester. Over 30 inmates have participated in these workshops, which focus on writing fiction and poetry. This program was originally sponsored by a grant from Michigan Campus Compact, and it is now supported by the SVSU College of Arts and Behavioral Sciences.
Two SVSU tutors develop and lead these creative writing workshops for the inmates each year. The work generated in these workshops has been featured in Writing@SVSU and other publications.
