The 2019 Michigan Authors’ Workshop Series

To showcase the talents of Michigan writers and to support creative writers of all ages in our community, the Michigan Authors’ Workshop Series will bring eight writers to Midland, Michigan the week of July 22-26, 2019.  These writers will provide free readings to the public in the evening, and they will teach various writing workshops for upper elementary, middle school, high school, and adult writers during the day. This year’s series, titled “Discovering the Writer Within,” will feature children’s author Lynne Rae Perkins, young adult writers Gary Schmidt and Patrick Flores Scott, graphic novelist Jim Ottaviani, poet Jack Ridl, non-fiction writer Mardi Link, novelist Michael Zadoorian, and memoirist/poet Anne-Marie Oomen.

To learn more about these free author talks, readings, and book signings, or to register for a writing workshop, see the information below—or call us at 989.964.6062.

This workshop series is generously supported by the Friends of the Grace A. Dow Library and the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio.
